Jessica & Ashi – Sangeet, Baraat, Sikh Ceremony and Wedding Reception!

Indian Sangeet, Baraat, Sikh Ceremony and Wedding Reception

Jessica & Ashi hired me to photograph their entire wedding weekend and every part of it was so well thought out and gorgeous!

We started off the weekend with a sangeet at Marriott Schaumburg

Jessica is such a perfect bride. She wore traditional red and gold and had pink and blue detailing on her wedding sari.

And here is the happy couple along with their entire wedding party! The cream sherwanis for the groomsmen and coral bridesmaids outfits looks so beautiful at this scenic spot behind the Sikh Religious Society of Chicago

All these festivities wrapped up with a wedding reception at the Marriott.

They chose an elephant theme for decor, and the room was put together by the talented Amer of Amer Design Studio.

Hindu Temple Wedding and Drury Lane Reception for Seema and Amit!

Hindu Temple Wedding and Drury Lane Reception

By now I am sure you have seen these two celebrity faces plastered all over my website! I recently posted their engagement session as well as their Sangeet photos, and I am thrilled to finally share images from their wedding day! Seema & Amit had a Hindu Temple wedding and their reception was nearby at Drury Lane.

Seema was radiant. For her morning outfit before the ceremony, she wore this gorgeous green (my favorite color!) sari. I set her against some greenery for some natural looking shots, but I also loved this outfit in front of the ornate wood doors of the hindu temple!

Amit wore the traditional colored sherwani with beautiful detailing and a red scarf. I put him in front of the white part of the temple to get some contrast, but also like the warm look I got of him in front of the wood door as well. Shooting at the Hindu Temple is a dream, as you may well imagine!

Classic black and white portraits.

For the baraat Amit rode in a carriage pulled by a beautiful white horse! Friends and family danced him all the way up the long drive to the temple.

He was greeted by family and escorted into the ceremony hall.

After the ceremonies and rituals, we quickly stopped by part of the temple to get a portrait of the two of them together. What a beautiful contrast in the sky that day!

After such a long morning, Seema & Amit rested and prepared for their evening reception at Drury Lane.

Side note, I absolutely love their ring set. It is incredibly ornate, however still looks delicate on her hand.

The ballroom at Drury Lane was spectacular. Margi of Oliveaire did a wonderful job coordinating this event with over 600 guests!

I set up a few room lights to get a natural ambiance yet maintain the beautiful natural look of the purple uplighting and myriad of twinkle lights.

Black and white attire for the evening, these two really look like Hollywood stars!

And, as you might expect at a party of 600 happy people, the evening was out of control!

I want to give a huge thanks to Seema & Amit for choosing me. It was a wonderful experience from start to finish, and I am very excited to complete your gorgeous wedding album!

Baraat at The Meadows Club

This gallery contains 2 photos.

Niti shows off the gorgeous peacock detailing on her red, gold and green wedding sari before heading over to the Meadows club for her wedding day! Manish celebrates his baraat with the elegant Grace from Graceful Equines and music by DJ Runi!  Niti successfully gets the garland over Manish first!

Ruby Red!

Punit & Ruby had me shoot their three day event and, like most 3 day events, it was like running a marathon! Jobs like this are a huge reason why I make myself workout and stay in shape!

I do wonder how the bride and groom can handle it. These quick previews of Ruby in the morning and Punit’s baraat were taken at 8am in the morning, which means she had probably been up since 4 or 5am! I shot until midnight so I know these two must have been there for at least an hour after me!

These quick morning portraits of Ruby were taken at the Hilton Rosemont, and Punit’s baraat images were taken en route to the Rosemont Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.

I love the bokeh in this photo, you can see Ruby having her henna applied on this blog post! Check out their engagement shoot as well!

Sikh – Hindu Wedding at The Meadows Club

I recently had the wonderful experience of photographing a Sikh and Hindu wedding. Sunny & Tania started their morning with a Sikh Ceremony then later moved to The Meadows Club to finish off their festivities! As you can see from all the images, it was a beautiful full day!

Urvita & Shital’s Wedding Portraits

Urvita & Shital hosted an all day event for their wedding at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare Rosemont.

In the morning I took some portraits of them in their traditional red and gold wedding clothing. The mosaic tile at this Hyatt, combined with the gorgeous sky dome ceiling, made my morning portrait crunch time easy and beautiful!

I had to put them in front of this glittery wall! As my assistant put it, they simply look like movie starts! <3

Such a looker!

one of my favorite shots from the whole day! I love hands!

Shital is one of the most stylish guys I think I have ever shot.

The dome skylight ceiling made a fun background for the formal portraits

And of course it helps to have stunning subjects as well!

And the entire party!

After the morning ceremonies, Urvita & Shital changed for the evening reception

Traditions of Baraat

Shital’s Barat was one of the most fun (AKA dangerous) things I think I have ever shot at a wedding! These families were relentless during the stealing of the shoe!

Shot at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare

Shital is prepared for his Barat

Shital holds a coconut, which represents new beginning, success, well-being and wealth.

The grooms friends and family head outside for a long parade of fun and dancing as they escort him to Urvita

This is Shital, always smiling!

The crowd of friends and relatives arrives at the Hyatt, followed by Shital in the carriage pulled by a white horse

Urvita waits for Shital

She holds the garland that she must try to put around his neck

Shital does not make it easy for her! He stands high above the crowd!

But Urvita prevails =)

Shital has a simple task. Get on stool, eat some sweets, and step on that cute little thing on the ground. Easy, right?

Until the person feeding him sweets tries to get him off balance . . .

The friends of the bride join in . . .

And Shital hits the ground and his shoe is taken!

and the bartering begins!

Even after a crowd of people wrestle over Shital, he is still all smiles!

Finally Shital has his shoe, and the ceremony continues as he enters the ceremony hall

Samir’s Baraat!

After photographing Dharna I drove over to Samir’s house to photograph the family blessings and Baraat!

See more from Samir & Dharna’s wedding on facebook!

An Exotic Affair

This ceremony and reception was held at the Rochester Convention Center in Rochester, NY.

This woman was trained in the art of pinning Saris!

Thank you so much for letting me into your lives for such an important day!
