Intergovernmental Agreements

In many cases, agreements have been the precursors to the adoption of Commonwealth or state and territorial laws. The agreements reached at the COAG level show that the results enjoy increased government support and have a greater currency and strength than departmental reports and press release texts, which may not always contain detailed political and/or operational issues. Detailed commitments of the Council of Australian Governments (COAG) can be recorded in intergovernmental agreements or declarations of cooperation.
