Devil’s Lake State Park Wedding

Chris & Christiana hired me to come to Devil’s Lake State Park to photograph their gorgeous fall outdoor destination wedding ceremony and picnic reception! Devil’s Lake State Park, WI is a beautiful destination that was very meaningful to them.

I started at this quaint rustic cabin with Christiana.

These two were so laid back and easy going, we were able to hike around the park to some beautiful spots! I started with them by these fallen boulders because The shade makes PERFECT portrait light and I loved the texture of the rock, moss and ferns.

Fall is one of my favorite times of year, and you can see why below. Sweet gentle light, perfect weather, and colorful trees! I wasn’t the only one admiring Chris and Christiana, hikers had a hard time keeping their eyes off of them!

And of course no state park destination wedding is complete without hiking to the top of a cliff for a nice overlook right? SO we hiked up the mountain, YES he did this in a full suit and YES she did this in her wedding gown! And yes, I did it with two camera bodies, 3 lenses and 2 flashes but at least I had proper clothing and shoes for it! The walk was well worth it. The overlook at Devil’s Lake state park is absolutely stunning, and even more so in Autumn.

Valley Lo Club Wedding

I met Chris & Sarah over coffee about a year before their wedding. I was so happy when they chose me because they wear their love on their sleeves.  Chris is gentle, sincere and attentive and Sarah is the personification of expression and empathy!

Ceremony at The Meadows Club

  Niti & Manish held their ceremony at The Meadows Club. Room design was astonishing, by Yanni Design Studio. It started with a lovely procession of children, prayers, several Hindu rituals, and ended with Vidaii, my favorite! Soon I will be posting the reception images!

Rosemont Convention Center Reception

At the end of three wonderful days, Ruby and Punit were still going strong and ready to enjoy their extravagant evening reception.

Elegant cocktail hour and Reception were held at the Rosemont Convention Center

Sid of Modern Event Rentals did such an outstanding job with the reception room.

He used a combination of modern furniture, reflective surfaces, custom lighting, and even a wall of (real) candles to create a romantic yet vibrant environment.

As you can see from the many many photos, it was simply gorgeous and a wonderful group of people.

Thank you so much Punit & Ruby for choosing me, and I hope to see you at another event in the near future!

Ruby & Punit’s Ceremony, Vidaai and Formals

Punit & Ruby’s ceremony took place at the Rosemont Convention Center.

This outstanding modern mandap was designed by Modern Event Rental with lighting design by Precision Sound & Lighting.

Sid of Modern Event Rental really did such an outstanding job putting a modern twist on this traditional mandap and stage.

I LOVED playing with the reflective surface during the ceremony and was able to get some really fun creative shots of his work!

As you scroll through these images you won’t only notice the amazing decor and gorgeous clothing, but also two people who could not stop smiling through an entire ceremony.

It was such a beautiful thing to witness, and I am so thrilled they chose me to record it!

Ah I love my job so much.

Allerton Estate Wedding for Rachel & Michael

Rachel & Michael were married at the beautiful Allerton Park and Retreat Center in Monticello, IL.

The Allerton Estate has a myriad of beautifully manicured gardens and the Mansion is full of art and history.

Clearly, that was enough to make me a happy photographer.

Add two kind and generous clients to that mix and I was thrilled!

Sikh – Hindu Wedding at The Meadows Club

I recently had the wonderful experience of photographing a Sikh and Hindu wedding. Sunny & Tania started their morning with a Sikh Ceremony then later moved to The Meadows Club to finish off their festivities! As you can see from all the images, it was a beautiful full day!

It was such a classic Chicago summer day, it could not have been more perfect! We started at the Sheraton for preparation, took two limo buses to the church, then toured around town on a perfect blue sky day!

To top it off, the beautiful reception at the Columbia Yacht Club started with a traditional Lithuanian wedding dance and ended with fireworks!

Congratulations to both of you, I am very excited that we will have your album completed soon!

Monica & Nawwar at The Weathervane

Monica & Nawwar were such an inspiration to photograph. Their wedding was incredibly intimate and personal.

With their union they also tied their 4 children into a new family unit, and to witness this was so precious to me.

After the morning portraits with one another and with their children, we headed to The Weathervane for a gorgeous outdoor ceremony!

They are such a tender couple, I loved the emotion of them greeting their children after the ceremony!

The reception was very tasteful, literally! Nawwar’s groom cake was a stack of gourmet cheeses!

Congratulations to both of you, it was such a pleasure to spend the day with you!

ISPWP Photography Contest First Place Image for Kids!

It is no secret that I absolutely adore children. And not just the happy ones, either. I love children because they are honest with their emotions, and I think we could all take a (tempered) lesson from that!

I am blessed to have an image take first place in the recent ISPWP contest in the category “Kids Will Be Kids.”

And they should be. Because kids are awesome.

Congratulations to everyone who placed, it is such a competitive and talented group, I certainly did not expect anything from my entries!

ISPWP is unique because “Photographers cannot simply buy an ISPWP membership, they have to earn it . . .  when you hire an ISPWP Photographer, you are hiring a talented veteran with a track record, peer recognition, and a passion for creating heirloom images of your wedding.”

Being a member of this group is honor enough, but just for kicks here is my winning image!

And I think most men can relate to this shot. As if a pink shirt weren’t enough . . .
