Huntington State Park Family Portraits

Last weekend I photographed The Hensley Family at Huntington Beach State Park in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

The weather was very fine, but not nearly as fine as the faces!

but I did manage to get one straight face out of her :)

Todd is a pastor in Fayettville, NC and one of the most kind and sincerely caring people I have met in the south.

He does good things. He doesn't just talk about it. I think we all can appreciate that.

And of course, a man that awesome must have a total hottie for a wife!

This past year has been a JAM PACKED year of non-stop love and I hope all of you are celebrating by expressing your love today! I want to thank all my clients from the past 12 months who hired me to record their love! St. Valentine was martyred for protesting a ban on marriage, and his stance on love and commitment has lived on for centuries! Whether you are married or not, today is a perfect day to practice your freedom to express your love!

Courtney & Chris’s Hilton Head Island Get Away Wedding!

Courtney & Chris planned their intimate island getaway wedding in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

For the venue they rented a gorgeous mansion on the beach that was a perfect backdrop for their ceremony.

Nikkah Wedding Portraits Part Deux!

After Artist’s Cafe and The Vermillion, Shahzeen, Prem and I stopped by the Chicago beach for some scenic shots! After a day of rain and clouds then sun beamed through and it was blue skies all around! We had such a perfect day for their Nikah, I can’t wait for more celebrations this weekend with them!

Kristine & Jonathan Engaged!

I met up with Kristine and Jonathan at the Adler Planetarium in Chicago, IL for their engagement session, and of course the weather man was completely on my side that evening!

We started out with a view of the skyline. They will have their wedding reception at the Mid America Club, so they wanted some shots with that building in the background.

When I first met with Kristine and Jonathan, before they hired me, they asked me to describe my style

She asked what motivates me to shoot the way I shoot.

I knew when she asked such perfect questions that they would be wonderful clients for me.

If how and why I see the way I see is more important to someone than how many megapixels my camera has . . .

then I know they will be super to work for!

The evening colors were just coming out toward the end of the shoot!

Then I made them feed the meter because all of the sudden the light was too much to pass up!

I felt so fortunate to see this beautiful scene of love and light unfolding right in front of me.

So precious.

Nance Family At Debordieu, SC

The Nance family was vacationing at DeBordieu, SC and wanted to have some candid and group photos taken while they were all together. Piper Warlick, a fun and talented photographer from Charlotte, NC, referred them to my work and I am so glad she did!

I photographed for about 2 hours, one on the beach and one at the beach house. You can see all my favorites on their facebook album!

Justine & Michael Make Faces TOMORROW!!!

A couple of weeks ago I got to meet Michael & Justine, whose wedding is TOMORROW!!! I am so excited to work with them! Not only are they creative and in love, but they keep me on my toes with their incredible ability to have fun and make faces!

We went to Montrose Harbor in Chicago for the shoot, which is where they had their first date! They trails by the bird sanctuary led us to an incredible view of the city skyline and sunset, and lucky for me the flowers were also in bloom!

Huntington State Park – Baisch Family Playtime!

How awesome is it that I live on the beach?

Sometimes it feels like I’m almost cheating because when the weather is right, at the right time of day, it’s almost impossible NOT to get amazing photos!

The Baisch Family asked me to do a candid portrait session for them at Huntington State Park this past Wednesday, and it was one of those perfect evenings!

Framing Families

Sometimes I think I am just plain lucky. I get to frame moments like this and give these pictures to families that will remember this exact moment forever. I shot the Horn Family this past Monday at Myrtle Beach State Park. When I shoot portraits for families I like to focus on two things. First, what will they want to put in a frame? What will go on their wall from this shoot? Secondly, what will describe their family dynamic? These are the shots I take to satisfy my artistic desire. Of course, I always hope that both of these types of shots will end up on their walls:)

The cuteness factor in this family is simply overwhelming!

Jeff and Cara are amazing parents. Not only are they raising three amazing, fun, unique children but they have a beautiful committed love that I truly respect.

It doesn't take much to keep kids happy at the beach!
